About this author

Saint Jean de Brébeuf, SJ.

He joined the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits) in 1617, and was ordained a Roman Catholic priest in 1622. He became a missionary in New France (present-day Canada), and was tortured and murdered by the Iroquois in 1649; thus becoming a martyr. He was beatified in 1925 and canonized a saint in 1930.
