Hello, my name is Joe McNally. I felt an immediate affinity with Goodreads because they allocated me my full name - Joseph - only my dear mother used to call me that.

I write horse-racing fiction with Richard Pitman, a very good friend as well as a collaborator. Our books have a mystery and thriller element and, usually some romance though beware as there is also a peppering of violence from the bad guys.

Goodreads is a wonderful forum for us to get feedback on our stories. We're far from set in our ways and simply want to entertain our customers. So if feedback from you and others steers us toward the ideal recipe, we will be delighted to write to that recipe.

Now, a little bit about us.

If I miss a week's writing, it takes me a few days to get back to full output level.

Writer's block, for me, at least, tends to come when I sense that a plot strand is unraveling (I write mysteries and the plotting is often dense and multi-stranded). I recently discovered that my Myers Briggs profile (INTJ) is one which will never allow me to settle for make do (and my natural laziness tempts me to do just that). But my personality won't allow it, so I end up unraveling everything and re-knitting it, often multiple times until that old INTJ devil is happy.(less)

A character will do or say something, and I'll ask myself 'Where did that come from?'(less)

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000037_00026]After many months of rewriting, I’m pleased to say that For Your Sins has now been re-uploaded to Amazon as Book 9 in the Eddie Malloy Series. That’s just the eBook version: the print version will take a couple of weeks and I’ll update on that when it’s done.

The downside for those who have read For Your Sins before is that Amazon’s automated system is at first not allowing previous purchasers t...
