about this author
Garrett Cook was born in Wenham, Massachusetts July 19th, 1982. There are other details, but they're depressing or banal, with the exception of his haunted birthplace, his struggle with bipolar and a brief, unfortunate cancer scare. Yawn. He examines crises of faith and conscience through a pulpy, surreal or magorealistic lens to create magical, paranoid worlds that he hopes will entertain, antagonize and endear you. His first novel Murderland Part 1:H8 is available now on amazon.com and at Quimby's bookstore in Chicago for any who dare. Read an excerpt here and another at http://www.horrorworld.org/h8..... read and liked
Andersen Prunty's
review of Murderland Part 1:h8:
"Garrett Cook's debut novel, MURDERLAND PART I-H8, is an intense, satirical and, above all, entertaining read. What stood out the most for me was this book's exuberant inventiveness. It is an extremely violent novel that is also an indictment of "...more " | |||

recommended for: fans of underground sketch comedy and Bizarro fiction read in August, 2008
Garrett said:
"Flash Fiction is very difficult. You can make it into a bad joke, an irritating pretentious koan or a dull Jeremiad if you're not careful with it. Its malleability and the potential misuses of it have always reminded me of improv comedy. Improv comed...more
