Commercials, newscasts, and signage saying that it's cold and flu season makes ailments sound celebratory (Get sick! Enjoy medications! Yay!). We all know being ill isn't a festive occasion, although a dose of Nyquil is sorta like downing a couple of tequila shots.

Dear Nyquil: To celebrate this year's cold and flu season, we suggest you cap your bottles with tiny sombreros. Also, if you put worms in your delicious mind-numbing concoctions, it might feel more like a party when we knocked...

It's Thanksgiving this week, and I just wanted to say that one of my many blessings is YOU, the readers. :-) Thanks for your continued support and enthusiasm. You rock!

Next Monday(ish), I'll blog about the cold and flu season 'cause we soooo need to discuss illness getting it's own freaking season. I will also give you an opinion about making money taking online surveys. I tried it. It kinda sucked. But hey, details on that next week.

My friend and fellow Leaguer, Kelly Meding, debuts a new...

A big thank you for dropping by last week and posting about your sucka experiences and the charities you support. :-) It's nice to know I'm not the only who's fallen for ye olde sob story.

I spent last weekend at the Red Dirt Book Festival in Shawnee, Oklahoma. I wrote a detailed blog about it at the League of Reluctant Adults. I'm giving away a Red Dirt Festival tote filled with books. Some are autographed, and all are awesome. You wanna pop over there to read the blog and leave a comment to e...

So, November means snow (well, not in this part of Texas), the start of the holiday and shopping seasons, and the extra baggage for our annual guilt trips. You know, the g-trips I'm talking about: We're suppose to give to the hungry, to the children, to the animals (those Sarah Mclaughlin save-the-abused-animals commercials make me cry … here, little sad doggie, take my money, please), and let's not forget, to the retailers. 'Cause some of those stores give a percentage of your funds (or...

Yesterday morning, I was watching the vampire documentary on History Channel. The Romanian dude was examining dead Romanian dudes and pointing out different things (bloody lips, longer fingernails) to explain why people in medieval times believed the dead had risen … as vampires! Muhahahahahaha.

Then my son, fresh from his shower and pre-breakfast joined me. I was perfectly willing to turn the channel to cartoons. I'm all in for Spongebob Squarepants. My son … eh, not so much. (How can...

I hate food shopping. I like food. I just want someone else to buy it, store it, and cook it. Alas, I can't afford Alton Brown.

So. Being without a Food Network star to make my life easier, I have to go to the grocery store. And buy stuff that takes The Boy 3.5 seconds to suck down into his stomach AKA the bottomless pit. But that's another blog.

What makes the dreaded Trip to the Store in Which to Buy Things I Have to Cook easier is that A. my favorite grocery store has a Starbuck's and B...

My son likes to ask me the same questions. He gets the same answers, but I think he lives for the hope that one day I might forget I answered the question, or change my mind, or … you know, forget I answered the question. Or maybe he just enjoys slowly driving me insane. It's a toss-up.

1. What's for dinner?
You never really want to know, son. You just hope the answer will be pizza. It's not like you want anything other than pizza, so the answer, unless it's pizza, never satisfies you. I know i...
