About this author

Author of "On the Beautiful Sea" (2008), TWEET, TWEET: a mysticotelegraphic fistbump panegyric to the american open road odyssey (2009), and 1337: A Game Novel (2010).

Born on the Planet Zantar 322 Earth-years ago. Superpowers include: breathing and talking simultaneously, long walks on the beach, and the ability to spell most words correctly.

Now lives in Southern California, where he teaches writing, occasionally makes mistakes, and dreams of PeaceCorpsing in some c'est la vie South American country.

Considers his happiest moment (so far) sitting on a cow-inhabited cliff in Zennor, Cornwall.

Has reduced his Twinkie habit to two packs a day.

Writes intuitively, sings quietly, and loves greasy pizza.

Great darkly insightly opening, but sort of slows and chickens out in the middle, then, by the end, recovers its power. What do I mean by this? It's not a character-driven novel, so you don't really get any deep sense of any of the main characters, b...more
