THIS IS A HALLOWEEN POST! Happy Halloween! It is the most wonderful time of the year! Here is a song I learned in French class about Halloween when I was a kid that I have never ever forgotten. It's called C'est L'Halloween. Any other Canucks remember this or learn it too? Was it strictly a Canadian thing? In any case, you need this song in your life:
This year, I dressed up as a Lady Gaga fan to hand out bags of chips to demanding children wearing costumes. I don't want want to say ...

In celebration of yesterday's good news and the fact that I cannot think of one way to follow it up with an ordinary blog entry, I am releasing TWO teaser videos for Some Girls Are and THE SECOND CHAPTER instead today. Also in celebration I am using less segue to do it! Yay!
Here is video teaser #2, entitled, "Hallowell High."
And now I present to you the second chapter. I was going to tell you that AWFUL STUFF IS ABOUT TO GO DOWN but awful stuff already went down in chapter one, so…...

Today, the 2010 OLA (Ontario Library Association) Forest of Reading nominees were announced.
Uhm.
Today, the 2010 OLA Forest of Reading nominees were announced and Cracked Up to Be is one of them.
It is a nominee for The White Pine Award.
When I found out, I was like what wait wait wait what what WHAT what what WAT.
And then I refreshed the nominees page a lot, just waiting for the cover image of Parker on the bench to somehow disappear. Because, to be honest, I did not get a lot of...

Yesterday, on Facebook and Twitter, I released the first of nine (NINE!) video teasers for Some Girls Are. Each teaser includes an audio snippet of the novel, as read by the amazing Kim Hutt, who gave her time and voice to make my mean girl narration come to life (thank you, Kim!). That audio is accompanied by some, well, visuals. Check it:
AND it turns out some Some Girls Are ARC giveaways just might happen with future video teaser releases… so stay tuned. In the mean time, the GoodReads...

I was looking through old back-up emails and found a notepad file full of notes and some deleted scenes from my Cracked Up to Be days. That always freaks me out and amuses me a little because it's a bit trippy to see the scenes you were considering writing, didn't, did or changed your mind about… or those little lines that became a scene you hadn't yet written. Like this line:
Jake and Parker go out on a date and Parker tells him she wasn't raped.
Which turned into this scene from the book (...

It's hard to find the right words to to describe what reading Amy Reed's YA novel, Beautiful, was like. It's an incredibly intense story about a thirteen-year-old girl named Cassie, who makes the decision to sit with wild and troubled outsider Alex, at lunch. From that moment on, the life Cassie had slowly unravels and twists and turns into something much darker, something much less certain from there.
A life–as the back of the book says–of, "drugs, sex, secrets and cruelty."
Still...

Oh hay, welcome to the INTERNATIONAL PREMIERE of the Some Girls Are BOOK TRAILER.
Yes, I had to announce it that way. Had to!
So I will not bore you with how excited I have been to put this up and unleash it upon the internets, so without further ado:
I hope you like it! My minimalist heart had fun putting it together. Please feel free to go to that Youtube page, rate it, comment and you know. Embed it! Everywhere! If that is your thing. And if you want to know what happened between...

This seems very well-timed after my horror movie post! Truefax: I have never been a stop on a blog tour before. I KNOW. Why not?! I really like blog tours. I love seeing what each blogger brings to the table in terms of questions and I love seeing the participating author's responses. They're fun! And the organization involved is a thing to behold (truefax #2: I am not very organized and it gives me something to aspire to).
So you can imagine how very very happy I am to report that I...
