I'm going to stray a little from my normally cohesive review format, to discuss this rollercoaster ride of a book.

“When I was a kid--10, 11, 12, 13--the thing I wanted most in the world was a best friend. I wanted to be important to people; to have people that understood me. I wanted to just be close to somebody. And back then, a thought would go through my head almost constantly: "There's never gonna be a room someplace where there's a group of people sitting around, having fun, hanging out, where one of them goes, 'You know what would be great? We should call Fiona. Yeah, that would be good.' That'll never happen. There's nothing interesting about me." I just felt like I was a sad little boring thing.”

Thanks for the ad! So many of your books are on my to-read list, thought it was time we became friends. :)
thanks for accepting my request , I like your books , I am planning on reading this is not a test , once I can get a hold of a copy that is , if it's zombies then I am on board .
I am a huge fan of ALL of your books, but I have to say, I love that you went a different route with the zombies in This is Not a Test. I had some crazy f'd up nightmares and I'm only half way through! I'm just LOVING this book!!!!
Hey Courtney thanks so much for accepting. I finished This is not a test yesterday and absolutely loved it! I will definitely be ordering it when it comes out. Can't wait to read the rest of your books soon :)
I just really wanted to say that I love your books! I'm from the UK and not nearly enough people know about your novels over here - but I am spreading the word :)
If you ever, however briefly, exhaust your appetite for YA and want to read the most brutally effed-up plays in the world, Sarah Kane is your girl.
Terra wrote: "I just got Cracked up to be and I can't wait to start it!"Hi Terra, sorry for the delay in my reply--thank you so much for reading! I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed SGA & that it resonated with you. :) My next book is post-draft, pre-edits and if all goes according to plan, should be out in 2011. Thanks again for the comment & for all the kind words. I really appreciate them!
Courtney
I just finished reading Some Girls Are. I couldn't put it down. I loved it and I am going out this morning to buy Cracked up to be. Are you coming out with another book soon? I hope so, I love your writing style and I just can't wait to read what else you come out with. Your book was so relatable, even though I am ten years out 12 years out of High School, this book (Some Girls Are) make me want to go out an apologize to everyone I was ever mean to. I am a changed person, but I wasn't always the sweetest in School. Love the book!!!!!

Thanks so much, Carmen! I'm thrilled to hear that. :)
AB wrote: "Hey lady -- so that book Fall, by Colin McAdam, that I think I linked you to a ways back? Is on the Giller Prize shortlist. Like the lettering on the spine was transparent and it was cool but omg hardcover prices these days. I am really interested in it but I am not sure if the style will win me over (from what I've seen so far).

I want to hear more!! & WOAH. That is an amazing title and cover.

Pssst, another book: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/82... !Its author taught the course I just finished taking, which I'll say more about soon -- but Nancy's great, and from the sounds of listening to her talk about her own work/style, you and she would have much to discuss. :) Hang in there, girl.

Well I may not be able to point you in the direction of Lady GaGa ray-bans, but this is a book I think you might wanna take a look at: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/33... so -- almost as good, am I right?
All the books that you're reading right now are ones I want to read. So I'm excited to see what you think of them! :)
Aw, I am pleased to be your first goodreads comment! And to be the first person to comment on your profile! Because seriously, imagine how many comments you're gonna get after you become a Goodreads Author with a zillion adoring fans? I'm just saying. ;)Let me know what you think of that book when you're finished reading it, okay? The plot sounds super-super interesting. And I love the title.

I look forward to discussing books with you and discovering more of your work
