Joseph Delaney is a full time writer living in Lancashire, in the heart of Boggart territory. He first got the idea for the Wardstone Chronicles series when he moved to the village where he lives now and discovered there was a local boggart - ‘a man like me needs boggarts around’. He made a note in his notebook ‘a story about a man who hunts boggarts’ and years later when he had to come up with an idea at short notice developed this into ‘The Spook’s Apprentice’, the first book in the series.
He continues to draw upon the folklore of Lancashire and has acquired much local knowledge over the years which he tweaks and modifies to create his fictional world. Another source of inspiration has been Lancashire’s varied and atmospheric landscape. M

So there is no clear distinction between ‘good’ and ‘evil’ characters! For example Alice struggles to be good despite her powers that come from the dark and Tom must compromise with the dark in order to survive.(less)

This blog also features on my website, www.spooksworld.co.uk where I will shortly post an extract from The Dark Army.
Will there be another Spook book after ‘The Dark Assassin’ (to be published January 2017)?
The answer is a probable yes. I already have an idea for it. The central character would be Spook Johnson rather than Tom but Spook Ward and Alice would certainly put in an appearance!

Are there aliens out there amongst the stars?
If so why can’t we detect them and why aren’t they already here talking to us?
The answer is ch
