about this author

Jeannette Angell's wide range of interests is clearly evident in her books: Légende, Wings, and Flight are all historical novels; The Illusionist is a contemporary mainstream novel; her most recent book, Madam, is a memoir; and she is currently working on a literary novel.
So what is the connection?

"What I'm interested in exploring," says Angell, "is the complex nature of people. We're none of us angels or demons, but we all have something of each inside us. My characters — and indeed my own life — reflect this; we struggle with the gray areas of living, make mistakes, aren't always nice. Whether I'm writing about history or a mystery, the same holds true: that people are complicated and do not always do what we expect them to. But what I also look for and write about is the resolution of all this complication: redemption, unconditional love, forgiveness, and peace."

Jeannette Angell is a member of the National Writer's Union, the Author's Guild, and the ASJA.
