Abraham Arden Brill was an Austrian psychiatrist, having received his M.D. from Columbia University in 1903, followed by studies with C. G. Jung in Zurich, Switzerland. After returning to the United States in 1908, he became one of the earliest and most active exponents of psychoanalysis, and was the first to translate most of the major works of Freud as well as books by Jung into English. He was a practicing psychoanalyst and taught at Columbia as well as New York University.
