I am the author of A Poisonous Journey, the first novel in the new Lady Evelyn Mystery series.
I have been active on Goodreads for a while and am always happy to explore new books to add to my toppling pile:-)
I am a painter and enthusiastic traveler and have lived in Germany and the US, though my dream home is a cottage in the Cotswolds...

Today is the first birthday(can I call it that?) of A Poisonous Journey (as well as my dad's!!) Publishing my first book was an exciting, nerve-wracking, foreign experience for me, but thanks to the many people who offered congratulations, suggestions and kindness, I got through it:-) As another year begins for Lady Evelyn, I want to say thank you to all my Goodreads friends and those who read... Well, hmm.
I drank 2 glasses of Granache Blanc as I finished this up. I was thinking I was too Mary-like in my response to this novel and it might help me be more Lydia-like. Perhaps if I had imbibed the entire way.

Albert Camus

Charles Bukowski

Charles Bukowski, Barfly

“For those who believe in God, most of the big questions are answered. But for those of us who can't readily accept the God formula, the big answers don't remain stone-written. We adjust to new conditions and discoveries. We are pliable. Love need not be a command nor faith a dictum. I am my own god. We are here to unlearn the teachings of the church, state, and our educational system. We are here to drink beer. We are here to kill war. We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us.”

Thank you, Dolors! I love "Jane Eyre" definitely one of my favorites also, but I agree, it's so difficult to decide on just one:-)
I was in Barcelona last summer, such a lively city!

Dolors Thanks for your lovely response and for sending a friend request Malia. Hah, I am actually unable to provide a single title, particularly since I joined this page (I've read countless master pieces since then), but I will always hold "Jane Eyre" dear to me. John Banville, Proust, Lessing and Shakespeare have never disappointed so far, so my answer shifts between the literary currents of these authors...
I can't wait to discuss books with you, greetings from Barcelona till then! ;P

A good choice! Ravens tend to be rather mysterious creatures, do they?

Inge Hi Malia! Thank you for the friend request. You asked me where I would go if I had all the money in the world -- I have several answers for that. First of all, space. Second of all, Hogwarts. And thirdly, I love everything English -- Ireland, Scotland, and New Zealand are probably highest on my list. :)

Malia I paint a lot, but mostly for myself, same with my writing. I've only let very few people read what I write:)Do you have a favourite author?

message 2: by Marie

Marie Hi Mali, thanks for the friend request!

You like painting? I do love art, but much like my writing, I just don't dare try often. My art teacher in high school only had a short segment of acrylic painting because she didn't like to paint, so I'm mostly self-taught.

Juliana Philippa Hey Malia! Welcome to GR :-)
