"What you still need to know is this: before a dream is realized, the Soul of the World tests everything that was learned along the way. It does this not because it is evil, but so that we can, in addition to realizing our dreams, master the lessons we’ve learned as we’ve moved toward that dream. That’s the point at which, as we say in the language of the desert, one "dies of thirst just when the palm trees have appeared on the horizon."

"Never love a wild thing... you can't give your heart to a wild thing: the more you do, the stronger they get. Until they're strong enough to run into the woods. Or fly into a tree. Then a taller tree. Then the sky. That's how you'll end up... If you let yourself love a wild thing. You'll end up looking at the sky."

"You can never have the same thing twice, and it’s hopeless to try. It never works like that, and all you end up doing is breaking your heart against a solid rock. Hi Maria --
Thanks for your recent comment regarding 'Horse Latitudes' in the Amazon UK fiction forum "Why hasn't somebody made the movie??"
Unless the book in question is plot-driven, genre fiction (ala Tom Clancy), gotta stand by the old adage "Great books make bad movies." Great books are the product of great writing. It's all about words. Films are a visual medium. One doesn't readily translate into the other (or with the same effect). I've always felt novelists are closer to musicians or composers than screen writers. Tho I wouldn't mind some Hollywood producer writing me a fat check for the movie rights.
By the way, hope you have a very happy birthday!
Quinn

Maria, thank you so much for the glowing Amazon review you gave What Remains. You certainly boosted sales.
I've just received my copy of A Time to Tell and look forward to it--though my mother will probably read it first. She is staying with me to recover from hip surgery and is enjoying my home library.
Again, many thanks!

Sorry about that! I was raised with the mentality that I shouldn't stereotype anyone... I never thought it would apply to names, too! hee hee :) Umm... you do look a little hispanic and Maria is a common hispanic name, so.... I jumped to conclusions. Once again, my sincerest apologies! :) So, have any plans for the week/ weekend? Well, hope all is well and have a great day! ;)
