I saw the TV show first, which added to my reading of this, which added to my appreciation of the TV show. So it was all good. So many powerful scenes. So much to learn from this book. Plan to spend some of my novel-writing classes discussing it.

“She had been trying to be honest with him, thinking her honesty would be winsome and that he would come to rescue her family, forgetting what she later learned as a writer: that to be honest is to open yourself up to people thinking you're crazy.”
Susan Breen, The Fiction Class

“Her descriptions will be incandescent, perfect little nuggets of phraseology, and there will probably be lots of sex in her writing - the clinical type of sex with labias and clitorises and tongues going everywhere.”

Susan, I've added your book The Fiction Class to my to-read list.

Jeannie Faulkner Barber Hi Susan and thanks for adding me to your Goodreads list. If you have time, I'd love for you to visit my web site, I'm a novice writer so feel free to make any kind of suggestions, ideas or thoughts to correct it. I’m co-authoring a novel with Patty Wiseman, another friend on Goodreads. We’ve known each other for over 30 years. While you're there, please sign the guestbook, too! There’s also a link to our book you can click on… This site is brand new and in the editing stage as is our story. Please visit it as well. We’re both very green, but we’ve met so many people on this site willing to reach out and offer advice or a guiding hand, we feel very blessed.
