About this author

I am the author of "The Divine Dantes" trilogy that is a laugh-out-loud rock love story that follows the characters of "The Divine Comedy" in modern times. The first book of the trilogy is the OTHER modern novel based on the Inferno. If "The Catcher in the Rye" met "The Divine Comedy" on a smoky lawn at a rock concert, "The Divine Dantes" would be it.

I also penned the awarding book "Coffee with Poe: A Novel of Edgar Allan Poe's Life." The book brings America's most mysterious author and poet to life as never before. It was a finalist winner in the USA Best Book Awards. Visit my website for exclusive interviews and to buy my titles.

Best regards and Goodread(ing),

Andrew Barger

Edgar Allan Poe is America's forefather of Gothic literature and responsible for its most popular poem, "The Raven." I have argued in a past post that Poe did not (unfortunately) write a vampire story. But what about a ghost story? Poe had a mostly pitiful life where he suffered through poverty (much of it self-inflicted for his art) and the deaths of his mother, father, foster mother, foster... Read more of this blog post »

" A fun read for anyone interested in Poe. It reads as a novel, but also a biography, from his childhood, to his death, as well as his friends, enemies, and many love interests. You will not be able to put it down. "

“Literature is the most noble of professions. In fact, it is about the only one fit for a man. For my own part, there is no seducing me from the path. I shall be a litterateur, at least, all my life; nor would I abandon the hopes which still lead me on for all the gold in California.”
