about this author

All of Maggie Stiefvater's life decisions have been based around her inability to be gainfully employed. Talking to yourself, staring into space, and coming to work in your pajamas are frowned upon when you're a waitress, calligraphy instructor, or technical editor (all of which she's tried), but are highly prized traits in novelists and artists. She's made her living as one or the other since she was 22. She now lives an eccentric life in the middle of nowhere, Virginia with her charmingly straight-laced husband, two kids, two neurotic dogs, and a 1973 Camaro named Loki.

Maggie Stiefvater read and liked Tasha's review of Lament: The Faerie Queen's Deception:

I'm not sayin' anything but that James is narrating BALLAD, the sequel, and there is kissing involved. I'm not saying by whom! :D

I'm so glad you loved it!

Tasha, believe me, I'm not sure if other authors feel the same, but I definitely never get tired of hearing from readers! I'm so glad that you loved it and I hope you love BALLAD too -- as soon as I finished BALLAD, I thought it was WAY better than LAMENT, and all of the advance readers so far have agreed! So I hope it lives up to LAMENT for you!

1865911 I don't usually make the effort to tell people when their books are exceptional, because I know that authors probably hear that a lot...but I have to say that I have been looking for a story like this FOREVER and I'm so excited that someone finally wrote it! I can't wait for the next one.
