I finally went out shooting (photos, don’t get excited) again last night. The result was a new addition to the Urban Night set. You can see it here, slideshow here. Mostly I just shoot what catches my eye; I like gas meters, industrial stuff, and dusk and night shooting.

I got the particular digital camera I have because I like wandering around at night and taking pictures. So, a lot of these are very neon and a little hard-edged. I need to make it a priority to get out shooting more, I enjoy it

As a reward for finishing Flesh Circus revisions last night I allowed myself the first story in the new Peter Beagle anthology this morning. It made me cry over my orange juice and English muffin. I swear, Beagle is one of maybe a handful of authors who can make me cry because a story is so right and so perfectly, beautifully constructed. (Others include Tanith Lee, Sarah Dessen, and Robin McKinley.)

Also, the Jehovah’s Witnesses came to the door this morning. Two men, one older one younger, both

A short run today–I’ve worked up to running five days a week, but two of those days are going to be short 20-min sessions (not counting warmup and cooldown). I was considering leaving the house today, but after yesterday’s cook-a-thon (we had MakeMe and her boyfriend over for dinner) I’m kind of nixing the notion. Besides, I need to get revisions out of the way so I can write, both on contracted stuff and on the New Shiny Project. After a long bout with revisions, all I can think of is creating

Tragedy. The ball to my Marilyn piercing fell off somewhere during the night and I can’t find it. Despite tightening it every day I’ve lost it, and I had to take the post out. *sigh* Which means it will close up, since I can’t get down to pick up another ball until, jeez, sometime this weekend? If I’m lucky?

It’s awful; I no longer feel like a pretty pretty princess. Still, a piece of metal on my face isn’t THAT important. Mostly I just loved how it looked and how it made me feel.

I still have my

Guys, I’m sorry. My brain is a big smooth billiard ball inside my noggin. I’m pooped. A big in-depth post about writing today? Forget it. Instead, I’m going to give you a Bulleted List. Because a List is what I do when I’m too tired to tango, you know.

Five Guilty (Book) Pleasures

You read that right. Five books I love, that I feel a little bit guilty when I read. Maybe because they’re pulpy, maybe beca

Welcome to my random:

* It is very, very hard to sit still when one hears, “Oh, no…Get a towel!” It is even harder to sit still and listen to the kids cleaning up a mess they’ve made and hoping I haven’t heard. So much of parenting is keeping a straight face. I am fairly sure it’s just spilled lemonade on a pair of pants. Nothing that requires my immediate attention.

* I love Cleolinda’s Secret Life Of Dolls posts, and today’s SLOD just about made me crack a rib laughing. I needed that.

* Ah, yes.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! The one day a year I’m especially glad to have green eyes. I am not so glad about the drunken shenanigans, but it’s better than New Year’s, right? Right?

Anyway.

The kind and gracious folks at Cover to Cover Books, where I occasionally volunteer, have given me permission to do something awesome.

I’m on the last push of revisions today, so this will be short. No, I’m not disappointed in the revisions. It’s something else.

I’ve found out that a fan I know (by name, even) has been uploading my work to a file-stealing site. (It’s not file-”sharing”. It’s file-STEALING, dammit.) It’s disappointing and hurtful to see a fan who claims to love my work uploading it to sites where people can steal it. It’s going to be awful hard to pay the rent if people continue stealing this way. Already this we

Two quick things today, because there is a certain birthday party I must be prepared for. It’s not anyone’s birthday, but we’ve scheduled the party today, which works out well for all concerned.

Right now I’m reading John Ajvide Lindqvist’s Let the Right One In, the book the Tribeca-award-winning movie is based on. The premise is good, the story is tightly-interwoven and s

So Shiva the corn snake is burrowing and hiding, probably to cope with all the unexpectedness of yesterday. The UnSullen freaked out last night because he couldn’t find the snake, but I put my foo down and told him to go to bed and leave the damn thing alone. This morning he changed the water in the vivarium (daily water changes are necessary) and lo and behold, there was Shiva. Right where I said he’d be. I suspect once we get a climbing branch for him, he’ll hang out on that and stop burrowing
