The series is called "With A Kick" and is based around an alcoholic ice cream cafe in the middle of London's theatreland. Sue Brown and I will be taking it in turns to introduce to the wide and winderful range of people who live and love there! My first story "A Twist and Two Balls" is due out on Aug 29. Watch for news and buy links!

The blurb: Eduardo Mancini is going to be a star of the London stage and screen. Or that was the plan. His alter ego Eddy March hasn't got further than the chorus and a bit part in a TV series. His parents aren't supportive, his agent can’t place his particular skills, and he's finding it hard to hang onto his young dreams. Things go from bad to worse when he's late for an important audition, hasn't got enough to money to pay the taxi fare, and is chased across the streets of Soho by the irate driver.

Eddy reaches what he believes is sanctuary - With A Kick, a store where ice creams are blended with alcohol and imagination, and where his friends can help him. But Nuri the taxi driver is persistent in his steady pursuit, above and beyond the money he’s owed. Despite their very different characters and background, Eddy and Nuri’s relationship goes from a complete unknown to a wary balancing act. There are still mistakes to be made, and hurdles to clear. And both of them have to admit that their life so far hasn’t gone the way they planned.

But maybe being caught by Nuri was just what Eddy’s career needed – both for his job and his heart.

"Adorable! Or should I say a-dork-able? This sweet little story was right up my alley.

What a perfect short story, am I right? I have a HUGE weakness for opposites attracts and geeky MCs, so this was just right for me. I really enjoyed the alternati..." Read more of this review »

"4.5 STARS

I rarely rate a story this short any higher than 4 stars because I’d say nine times out of ten I’m left feeling that there isn’t enough depth or it’s too rushed or there’s just too much story missing. But with A Twist and Two Balls I didn..." Read more of this review »

“Mum calls you happy.” Emily giggled.
“Huh? I don’t know your Mom…” “She says men like you are happy!”
Garry stared at her, uncomprehending. He’d rarely felt less happy in his life.
“She means gay,” Max said, and now there was a grin on his face.”

“She wriggled against him, obviously pleased. “So are you homey special?”
He frowned. He didn’t want to keep questioning her, but this one had him foxed. No combination of vowels or spoonerism made this one clear. Max barely moved his head but he answered as usual for her.
“She means ho-mo-sex-u-al.”

“He lives near me so we do some things together.” His throat felt tight. “Well, lots of things, actually. But of course we have our own lives. Both know it’s important we don’t get in each other’s way. It’s not like he needs me, needs my help for anything.”
“But you do.”
Garry turned his head so swiftly, he heard it crick.
“You need him,” Emily announced, gravely. “Don’t you?”
And while he desperately searched for something to say that would stop this right now, she peered carefully at his shoulders and neck.
“You need him to do your hair, to comb out those very nasty dangles. It’s difficult, I know. I can’t do my plates on my own.”
Max caught Garry’s eye. “Tangles,” he mouthed. “Plaits.”

We Brits must stick together :D. Seriously, I enjoy writing in my native world. When I first started out, the market was largely in the US, so I generalised a lot of my settings. But no more of that now :)
