I've been writing fiction since I was a kid, growing up in inner-city Hartford, CT. I studied writing at St. Bonaventure University, then went to NYC and worked variously as a proofreader, editor and researcher. I'm married to a talented artist, Frank Cecala and living in Northern NJ, with a grown daughter living in NYC. When I'm not writing, or reading, I work as an English tutor with elementary-school kids. My books include SECRET VOW, THE RAVEN GIRL, THE HOUNDS OF NEMHAIN and THE FOREIGNER'S STONE--the last three part of a series of YA historical fiction set in Ireland. THE NOVICE MASTER is my first adult contemporary novel in some time, but this may be the genre I stick to.

Time to update my Goodreads page--I have a new book coming out and it's not historical, definitely NOT YA. It's similar to my first novel ever, SECRET VOW, and in fact, has some of the same characters! So watch this space for more info...

“This is cunnilingus you're describing, right?"
"Good lord, where did you find that word?"
"I saw it in the dictionary."
"Are we perusing the dictionary for profane words now?"
"I wanted to know how to pronounce it properly. The accent is on the third syllable."
" Ah, good to know. Because that word is always likely to come up in casual conversation.”
