Warning: serious post. Fun coming next post...so stay tuned. As an author, and one that has jumped into the Independent sales pool to sell some of my back titles and my latest release, one has to wonder: how do you track the sales now? We are so used to our publisher doing that for us. Thank you Amber Quill! I certainly appreciate the quarterly spreadsheets I get with my sales spelled out for what each book sold and and from what venue. But now that I have a few titles in the Independent pool? I have a wonderful excel spreadsheet I started, but doesn't show me anything at a glance, as I really have to look and study the numbers. Call me visual.
Enter Prag Author. I happened to come across this site that will track my sales for me and enter them into graphs and such, so that at a glance I can see which books did better during which months. I could tell easily when I lowered the cost of my re-releases by the jump in sales. Not only that, but it also tells how much I made here in the US and abroad as well as what sites are selling my books better for me. It doesn't take a lot of work. I don''t have to enter all my numbers each month, I simply download the excel sales reports from the site, and upload them at Prag Author. It really is a cool site, and the designers love to work with authors to try and develop it with the author in mind. Take it for a test drive, download your excel spreadsheets from Amazon, BN.com, CreateSpace and Smashwords. Give it a try and see what you think: http://pragauthor.com/ If there are different sales sites you are using and you don't see them at Prag Author, just contact them. They will be glad to work with you. Right now it's still in Beta form, but so far...I like what I see.
And speaking of Independent sales, I'd like to personally thank...okay, I can't do it personally, so this blog post will have to do, all of you who downloaded Deadly Obsession and pushed me up the sales charts. It was pretty cool to see my overall rankings jump for a few days and the sales that followed. I can't thank you all enough. Stay tuned for more freebie offers if you missed out! More to come on Amazon! May the sun always shine...

At first glance, one can easily see what Writers have in common with Readers. You may think, "Duh! That's an easy one!" And at first glance...it's pretty clear cut. Writers write the stuff Readers read. Yep, pretty clear cut. So what else do readers have to do with writers? How about Word-of-Mouth promoting! Readers have more to do with a rising authors career than simply buying the book...they TALK about the authors books! Head on over to Authors by Moonlight and see what I am blogging about today. That's where I do my more serious blogging. I save my silly stuff for here. Yep...I tend to be a goof, love men, love reading and writing...just love life in general. I might be talking about the latest hot bod, latest movie, latest fad, or just about anything that trips my trigger at the moment of said blog posting.
Today...I'm going to grumble about American Idol, though. Grumble, grumble, grumble. If you have been keeping up with my blog: my fav is Colton Dixon. If you have been keeping up with American Idol: he got voted off a couple weeks ago...after Jessica Sanchez's save. Don't get me wrong...that girl has some pipes and I expected her to win. So her getting voted off: SHOCKER. But what was even a bigger shock: the judges storming the stage and yanking the mike from the poor girl's hands and demanding America vote and get it right. "Jessica Sanchez is one of the best singers in America ever," said Randy Jackson. Uh, oh...did they just throw the other six contestants standing on stage under the bus? I believe Jessica should have been saved, in the same fashion they saved all the contestants from past shows: from their judges seats. Okay...grumble over...and maybe it's time to go back to watching fun TV and skip the reality shows.
Shows like Finder, Touch, CSI, Vampire Diaries, Sons of Anarchy...yep, time to stop being a singing show junky. Wait...what about The Voice, with hunky Adam Levine? xFactor? And the new show Duets coming out? Or maybe I should just get back to writing! Besides--then I get to get mad at only myself when the scene takes a turn for the worse, right before making it all better...and think of all the shirtless hunks I get to envision. Writing it is....May the sun always shine!

Yep...Zac Efron is in The Lucky One. And yes, he looks good...okay, great! He's growing up quite nicely. And has turned into a good little actor, I might add. But when you are sitting in a movie theater with a bus load of screaming High School Musical fans, well...sort of ruins the passionate moment on screen when thirty-five teenage girls start screaming. Poor Zac...he probably can't walk down the street without girls doing exactly that...screaming.Do go see the movie (make sure there are no buses in the parking lot) as the movie is well worth it. I loved it and plan to buy that one on Blu Ray...so I can watch it again from the comfort of my home...minus the screeching.
So what is this blog really about...oh yea...I digress. I am guest blogging at Reader Haven: http://anavidreadershaven.blogspot.com/2012/04/author-interview-with-patricia-rasey.html Go check it out...and leave me a comment...there...not here. And you will get a chance to win Love You to Pieces! Another chance...so get on over there. It's a possible FREE read...just for leaving a comment. Reading the interview is optional.May the sun always shine...

Wow...so glad to see old man winter hit the skids. I am not a fan of the cold wintry days where you have to bundle up and freeze your tail off as you run from the house to your car and wait (for what seems like ever) that darn car heated to get you warm and toasty. Yep, you guessed it--no garage for this chick. Easter is right around the corner--which brings to mind flowers...which brings to mind Lilies! My fav flower. Check out my blog post on Authors by Moonlight and see why I happen to think about the flower. And don't forget to post a comment--there, not here, for your chance to win the $25 gift card we are giving away on that blog. And let me know what your fav flower is!
And just so you know--I'll try to keep the serious side of my posts over there. Can't be posting hot guys in firemen pants and worry about offending the masses. If you are reading this, chances are you already know me and I'm not about to offend you. Like me, you embrace the fact God gave you eyes to appreciate a hot...excuse me...good looking man. Can't have men thinking I think of them as sex objects. Of course, I don't. After all, my son is on the fire department. These men truly work hard to save our lives. They just get warm sometimes and have to remove their shirts and we just appreciate a hard working man. That's my story--and I'm sticking to it. Seriously, check out my blog over at Authors by Moonlight and maybe--just maybe, you'll get to go on a $25 spending spree on us. Maybe a book with a fireman on the cover with be just what you were thinking!
Have a sun shiny day!

I am excited to share that I have been asked to join the Authors by Moonlight. We are a compilation of 12 romance writers. Each week one of us posts a new blog, so you will have to stop by and check out what I have to say...maybe I'll try to stay serious. Hard for me, I know. I'm so busy trying to find new hot guys for my facebook, or watching movies, TV reality shows...that I can very rarely stay serious for long. So my posts should be interesting. Anyway--this is a great group of authors, so surprised (but happy) that they invited me on board. Check them out and their blog posts and post a comment after each blog for a change to win the $25 monthly gift card giveaway. What are you waiting for? We're talking $25 smackaroos! Also stop by our new Facebook and please 'Like' us! https://www.facebook.com/AuthorsByMoonlightWinner of Tim Miller's HAND OF GOD is Jenni Schell. Congrats Jenni! Tim will be in touch with you soon for your prize. I used Random.org to pick the winner. So congrats and thank you for stopping by and taking the time to post. Next up...author Rue Allyn. So stay tuned for that post...I'll be doing a review of her book: THE WIDOW'S REVENGE as well. She writes hot and steamy...so you won't want to miss that.
Did I say reality TV? Yes, I did. I am a 'singing' show reality TV junkie. You put the show out there: American Idol, The Voice, The XFactor...and I'm tuning in. I love music. And I've found some great singers through these shows! Love Marty Casey from Rockstar INXS...anyone remember that show? Loved it! Although hated INXS dropping JD Fortune...I won't go there. Love, love love Adam Lambert...that boy has pipes and puts on a great live show. Okay--before I start filling this post with the tons of singers I found from all of these shows...this year's MUST watch out for is Colton Dixon on American Idol. He sealed the deal with me with his rendition of Billy Joel's PIANO MAN. Check it out on YouTube or on iTunes where you can purchase the studio version. One to watch out for!Have a great day! And let's hope the summer comes rolling in. May the sun always shine in your world.

Today we have author Tim Miller stopping by my blog to share about his new release THE HAND OF GOD available now from Amazon.com. Stay tuned and keep reading to see how you can enter to win Tim's novel!Blurb:
Charlie Sims is the pastor of a small church. However, he thinks he's on a special mission from God to rid the world of sinners. As he brutally carries out his work, a mysterious man delivers a message that will change his life forever. A battle ensues for the fate of mankind.
Charlie finds himself in a struggle with the spiritual realm only to learn that nothing is what it seems. He must choose between accepting his own identity or realizing his own beliefs have been wrong his whole life. Whichever he chooses, nothing will ever be the same, and no one is safe.
Excerpt:
~Who would dare challenge the hand of God? This was the question I asked myself every night. The world was full of sinners, so my work was never done. Tonight's sinner was an adulteress. During the day, she was a school teacher, mother of two beautiful children with a loving husband. Her husband practically worshipped the ground she walked on. Yet this wasn't good enough for her. Despite his years of love, devotion and adoration; as well as him giving her everything she could ever want, she was sleeping with another man.
The "other" man was a bad boy. He'd been in jail a few times, couldn't hold a job, and hung out in bars daily. Yet he was much manlier than her gentle husband who loved her so. Adultery was sin in the eyes of God. He had declared her sin an abomination. Those who commit this act shall be put to death. Tonight, I was going to do just that.~
A little bit about Tim:

Tim Miller graduated from Bethel College in Mishawaka, IN with a degree in Bible and religious studies. After serving four years in the U.S. Marines, Tim spent six years working as a corrections officer. The Hand of God is Tim's first novel in almost ten years. He currently lives in San Antonio,
Texas with his fiance and their children.
Questions and Answers:
1. You were gone from writing for awhile. Has it been hard to get back into it?
For years off and on I'd had story ideas, it was hard to get myself to sit down and do it. I did do some writing over the years. In school I did papers of course. I had a religious blog for awhile and wrote some Christian books based on those blogs, so I was never TOTALLY not writing. It was just the level and seriousness of it I guess. A few years ago I had started with my idea of Pastor Charlie, but in that one he'd become a vampire. Vampires were and are still big on the market so I thought I'd try it. After about 100 pages I decided it was too silly and scrapped it. Then this past year while going through my divorce, I was watching some episodes of Dexter. It was then I had an idea as what to do with Pastor Charlie.
2. I see that you decided to go the Independent Publishing route. Why did you choose going it on your own over traditional publishing?
When I wrote years ago I did the Indie route. Same with my non-fiction books. Even ten years ago, I was fed up with the established publishing industry. Back then I'd gotten some rejection letters from agents that I felt were quite rude. I mean, I get it, they are or were the "gatekeepers' to the industry and to publishers, but there is no reason to refer to someone or their work as "stupid" or "crap". Yet if you say anything in response to them, then suddenly you are the crybaby, unprofessional one. To me being professional works both ways and if a person doesn't like writers or manuscripts that much, then it's time to go work at McDonald's or something. I've always been a hands on guy, so I like having complete control over the cover, design, and release date of my work.
3. The Hand of God is your first book since your hiatus. What inspired you to write this novel?
I mentioned this a little bit earlier. My fixation on a preacher as a main character came from my own experience having worked in ministry during my hiatus. I saw many preachers who were good men, but struggled with something in their lives that made them feel inferior or even not good enough. However more than that, I saw preachers who were so far off base from God's message or any realm of decency, yet they thought they were 100% in the right...and that anyone who disagreed with them was not only opposed to them but enemies of God himself. So I thought it would be interesting to take a preacher, make him as messed up as I can, write from his POV, but have him convinced he is 100% right. From there the story just sort of wrote itself.
4. Give us a small glimpse into your world, what is a typical day like for you?
Well, I sell insurance in a call center for my day job, so 4 days a week I'm in a cubicle on the phone. The other three are my days off. I alternate between reading, writing, watching TV and promoting my book on whatever sites I can. I usually work in a nap or two somewhere :)
5. What is one thing your readers would be surprised to know about you?
That I have a little chihuahua dog named Dusty who is a big baby and my best buddy ever!
6. If you could give one piece of advice to new writers, what would it be?
To just keep writing no matter what. The web and twitter is full of stuff about marketing and promotion and all these things. All that is important and can be hard, but no matter what, just write. Without that, none of the other stuff matters.

Glad you decided to hop on by! This week we celebrate the upcoming ST. PATRICK'S DAY, which commemorates St. Patrick and the arrival of Christianity to Ireland, with giveaway's hosted by I Smell Sheep and Fictional Candy . I am thrilled to be a part of the hop as St. Patti's Day has a special meaning to me. I met my husband 29 years ago on this special day. We celebrate the day, every year, with a green beer. I love traditions and the occasional beer. So what tradition do you love? Keep that in mind as it will involve the giveaway below. What am I giving away? A PDF, Kindle or NOOK copy of my book LOVE YOU TO PIECES (winner's choice).
So what is LOVE YOU TO PIECES about? Do you like Romances and Thrillers? Meet the merger: It's been a few months since Jaycen McCain's troubled wife fell victim to a sadistic killer. Losing Kelly Jo has haunted him deeply, and his failure to keep her safe has driven Jay to the brink of a bleak, self-destructive despair. But the small-town police detective has bigger problems to deal with when a string of serial murders crop up on his home turf--murders with eerie similarities to the violence perpetrated on his wife.
Compelled to stop the killer and find much-needed answers about Kelly Jo's final hours, Jay is forced to enlist the help of a woman too tempting for his own peace of mind: Kelly Jo's pretty cousin, Sara St. James. Together, Jay and Sara embark on a pursuit for justice that will take them into an underground world of dark places and dangerous, irresistible desires. As an unwanted passion kindles and combusts between them, the killer closes in, pulling Jay and Sara into the web of an evil that will rock them to their core.
I do hope I have intrigued enough to keep reading. You can check out more about me or my work by going to my website: http://www.PatriciaRasey.com or signing up for my newsletter to the right of this post. Want to read a small excerpt...a first kiss? (Note: Colin Farrell was my inspiration for my hero, Jaycen)
Standing, he walked over to the sink and stared at his pale reflection. What had Kelly seen in Dax that she hadn't in him? A warm body. Turning on the cold water full blast, he splashed his face and washed his hands. Upon exiting the men's room, he saw Star talking with a shorter girl, wearing a tight pleated skirt and black leather bra. Perfect. He'd rescue Sara and get the hell out of here.
Sara stood with her back to Jaycen, so when he leaned in and whispered in the ear Dax wasn't lathering in spit, she jumped and set herself away from Count Dracula. "Jay?"
"We're leaving."
Her gaze widened. "So soon? But—"
Jaycen gripped her arm and pulled her toward the staircase. She looked back at Dax, who no doubt, stood watching the spectacle Jaycen created. He didn't give a damn. Dracula should feel damn lucky dragging Sara away had been his only move. Had he followed his gut instincts, the man would be lying in a pool of blood.
Outside on the sidewalk, Jaycen gulped in fresh air. He released Sara and leaned against the building. She planted her fists on her hips. "You mind telling me what this is all about?"
Several cars buzzed down the busy avenue as the street lamps cast an eerie amber glow to the cloudy night. Hell, where would he start? The part where his wife likely snorted the white stuff? Or the part where she had Dracula securely wrapped between her thighs as he slammed into her in a public restroom? He stabbed his hand into his hair and fought another oncoming panic attack. He drew in oxygen, squared his shoulders and faced Sara head on. Maybe telling someone might help him cope with Kelly Jo's betrayal. He certainly wasn't handling it well on his own.
Seeing his distress, she stepped closer and laid a hand on his cheek. "What's wrong, Jay? You're scaring me."Jaycen bowed his head, not shaking off her touch. He leaned into the heat like a moth drawn to flames. Her gaze widened, her lips parted, and he kissed her…

Protection. Adventure. Love.
It's all found within The Arms of the Law...

Burned by his fiancée years ago, seer and P.I., Brady Jacobs never wants another commitment in his life. But his bachelorhood and heart are threatened when he has one of his visions and see a killer striking too close to the woman he has recently come to love.
Danger lurks close to home and neither Brady nor Isabella like that they can't control every situation…especially matters of the heart.
Excerpt, Kacey Hammell, © 2012
"Cat got your tongue, or what?"
Her head came up as Alicia's voice chased away her meandering thoughts. Ali stood behind her desk with hands on her hips, a very familiar stance. It was her 'I want some answers now' pose.
Taking a deep breath, Isabella fought to regain the air that had suddenly left her body and tried to ignore the light-headedness from the photo she had just seen.
"For God's sake, Alicia. You know Brady and I are friends. We joke around and have a great time. People, a lot of them, naturally assume we are a couple. You've thought it yourself. You also know it's complete bullshit."
Isabella floundered, afraid to look her cousin in the eye and explain away the lie she was telling her. Heading to the window overlooking West Street, she wished she had an easy answer. Brady Jacobs was one of the men she trusted with her life and had great respect for.
When he came home from the Marines ten years ago, he had changed. A different man from the one she'd known in high school, he had lost some of the humor and laughter she had come to identify with him. While in the Marines, he'd fallen in love with a woman named Sandy. They'd met in Thailand and had become engaged. But once she learned the truth about his abilities, Sandy had dumped him and remained overseas, declaring she never wanted to see him again.
He had come home a harsher, more abrupt man. One Isabella didn't care to know at first. But as she trained hard for her detective's shield, he was suddenly a rooting supporter who hoped she would ace the exam and obtain her dream.
It was as if he'd known long before she did she'd aced the exam. If it hadn't been for him, she might never have kept after it as she had. There were times when she had wanted to give up her dream, but he wouldn't let her. His ability to see things—visions of death, abuse, and other acts—made him an asset to the police, and to her during her struggles. But there was the odd time when Brady would see something great, something to make the gruesome visions he had seem small in comparison.
Looking out into the bustling street, Isabella spoke quietly. "Sometimes Alicia, you forget. I don't need a man in my life. Least of all romantic entanglements. That's your area. One you can gladly have all to yourself."
"What a load of crap. You and your stupid belief about marriage and love not being for you. It's just ridiculous," Alicia said adamantly. "And you know what, it's getting old. Hell, the excuse will be written on your tombstone the day you bite the dust."
Chuckling and feeling some tension leave the room, Isabella had to rib her cousin just a bit. "Bite the dust? What the hell are you talking about? You saying my time is coming? You know something I don't? I plan to live for decades yet. Alone!"
"Whatever. Your father now thinks Brady Jacobs is the boyfriend who will be coming to the party next month. He's very happy you've chosen a hometown boy, a celebrity himself, and an upstanding kind of guy. I think he'll be picking out china patterns for you next." Disgust was clear in Alicia's voice.
"So what will you do? I told you before to come up with someone to take with you. A pretend boyfriend if you will, just to gain you some time and get your dad off your back about babies and leaving this job behind."
"I won't do that, Alicia. Lying to my father is not an option. He'll get over it. There is no man in my life now, nor ever. At least not one for a happy ever after. It's just not possible." Her voice cracked as she spoke of the impossibilities. She only hoped her cousin didn't catch it. Her mother's death was never far from her thoughts. She would never put a man through what her father had gone through, nor did she ever want to feel such pain herself over a husband.
To her, it wasn't worth it. To love and then lose them just didn't seem worth it.
"Iz…."
"Forget it, Alicia. I don't want to discuss this anymore. I'll deal with my father and will call the Gazette to find out about this photo. We are hardly newsworthy. Especially when there is no story."
God, don't strike me down.
"Sometimes, I think you have your priorities all wrong," Alicia said sadly.
"Maybe I just need to get laid. Whatcha think?" Isabella hoped to see a smile on her face, but as she looked over her shoulder, all she saw was sadness. A look she had become accustomed to, as her cousin wanted her to find Mr. Right.
Mr. Man for the Night sounded much better to Isabella.
"Laid, Izzy? What's that? I don't think either of us remembers what it's all about," Alicia uttered, amusement finally percolating through her voice.
"Well, isn't this an enlightening discussion, ladies? Shall I throw my last sexual encounter into the ring and we can share in the misery?"
Isabella jumped and spun around at the sound of Ethan Carter's voice as he entered the office.
Blushing with embarrassment, she could barely look him in the eye. "Hey, Ethan. How you doing?"
"Obviously better than you." Ethan's eyes cut to his partner's desk, where the newspaper still rested, open to page four and the photo of her with Brady. His gaze flickered her way, making her feel lower than dirt. He set his coffee down on his desk, pasting a false smile on his face. "You two always commiserate together or what? Kinda early for sex talk, isn't it?"
She could see he was only pretending he didn't care about the photo on the desk, but as always, Ethan's face conveyed every emotion he felt.
"You know us girls, Ethan," Alicia ribbed her partner, obviously picking up on the tension. "Sex, sex, sex, we talk about it all the time. We want it all the more, too." She chuckled.
Laughing authentically now, Ethan ribbed her in return. "Sugar, I tell you daily, all you have to do is call me. Day…." He lifted his stare to Isabella. "Or night."
She shifted her gaze to Alicia, only to see a look of frustration and hurt cross her face.
Oh, God. Don't tell me….
"What's this? A party and no one told me?"
At the newest addition to the conversation, Isabella's pulse accelerated double-time. She looked toward the door.
Man, I don't need this today.
Brady Jacobs walked—no, sauntered—into the office and heading toward Ethan, spared her not a glance.
Black denim jeans encased his firm, shapely ass like a second skin. His black T-shirt with sleeves rolled over his beautiful biceps showed off his sexy, muscular build. He looked good enough to eat. A flood of heat coursed through her body. This was a man who was confident in himself and when he entered the room, there was a ripple effect. Everyone sat up to take notice of him and women practically swooned, eager to catch his eye. But Brady rarely gave any one woman the time of day. He was adamant about keeping his personal life private, and his no-commitment rule was always in full force.
