I come from people who don't travel overseas except in uniform. Or in chains. My ancestors came here a long time ago—mostly from England, Scotland, and Ireland—likely in chains. Once here, they pretty much stayed put. And it never occurred to me that I would be among the first to break through the family inertia. Susie in Oxford Garden

Stella ☢FAYZ☢ Chen Your books have changed my life! It's hard to find great fantasy books nowadays and yours are my favourites! Don't stop writing because I'll always be there waiting for them to come out. Always.

Nemphisi - Adalwolfa Hello Mrs. Chima. I must say, I am an avid reader of your novels, and do quite enjoy the experience that each gives me. Right now, I am anxiously awaiting to get a hold of the second Realms book, for a long waitng list at my public library prevents me from reading it. Thank you so very much, and I really loved the Heir novels. Simply fantastic!

Love your writing and originality and your excellently plotted story. I'm stunned and breathless. I want to read it over and over again!

message 25: by Kelly

Kelly Cinda Chima,

Thanks! That really did help me a ton! There have been times when I've questioned myself on many of the things you wrote.

I'm going to try, yet again, to write a story\book. I'm very good at writing songs...I've never fully finished a story or book well enough to show to anyone, however, as I've always felt sort of shy towards them.

Thank you, yet again
- Kelly

Cinda Check out my blog post on this topic!

message 23: by Kelly

Kelly I can imagine the amount of stress that’s put on your shoulders per book! However, doesn’t it pay off when you see the readers whom are very strongly into your books, as well as the hunk of pay you receive via it?

I have a strong lust for reading, as well as writing. I write my own songs, as well as play them live, & used to write short stories, but they were more-or-less the type of things that are lacking the fundamental to have a better overall story. I tend to just describe one specific thing for pages & pages. For example, I can describe the water, the dock the character’s standing on; everything. Just not continue on with the story itself!

I’m just not sure how to go about it. I have character names, as well as the general plot. I’m just always confused as to how to ‘start’ a book. I suppose that’s my weakness?

-Kelly

message 22: by Cinda

Cinda Pure, unadulterated panic! That's what goes through an author's mind when begins a novel and she's lucky enough to be under contract. It's like signing up for a 500-page term paper. And because I work without an outline, it's like working without a net. And yet...and yet I'm working on my seventh book now. You just have to work through the panic.

message 21: by Kelly

Kelly Hi! Thank you for accepting my friendship. I love your books. I am always curious what first goes through an authors' mind to begin writing a certain book. I'm eager to finally get into the last book in the Heir series.
