Today is the day to help podcast author JC Hutchins with his major debut novel release! That's right, today 7th Son: Descent comes out from St. Martin's Press! Help with the Amazon rush by storming their clicks and buying the novel here. It's damn good and he's blazing the new trail through publishing!

Don't believe me? Give the first chapters of the book a read here with this free, special edition PDF!

Yes, back a little while ago, Pat Holt wrote a little DIY ditty about yours truly and my road to publication. Now she's back with Part II of the column, What To Do When the Mainstream Yawns (and Spends)

In this one, I go head to head with a huge Dan Brown party that Random House (my boys!) threw at NYC's Gotham House! They had Lobster BLTs, Bellinis, waiters in George Washington costumes, and the mandatory coke off of women's breasts in the men's room! Ok, the last part isn't true.

Pat goes...

Yes, I had the honor of sitting down in the virtual hot tub this week with the two lovely ladies of Podio Racket and the two Podiobooks-pro podcasts there: the bi-weekly half-hour roundup Raise A Racket and the Blogtalk radio live interview show! Thanks to Heather Rhoulo and Rhonda Carpenter for the great work they're doing in the community and for coming on this show!

Pat Holt, pre-eminent publishing maven and overall chronicler of the domain, has just posted the first of two pieces about yours truly over at her blog, Holt Uncensored. I read this regularly, so I'm very happy to be included in her thoughts on the industry. I read one of her posts this summer about Paul Harding's book Tinkers, and she couldn't have been more dead on. This week I'm teaming up with none other than East Bay podcaster Dan Sawyer to throw down some facts on how we roll, how much you want to keep big hair out of the Hot Tub, and what it's all about with podcasting your way to publication. Dan's one of the best podcasters out there and a super big-time technical wizard when it comes to the audio production. Listen in to hear about his "Wall of Sound," the multi-actor fiction podcasts he's been putting out, and how he keeps all of these things...

So this is where I've been: Boston, Cambridge, New York City. All in the last weeks. I celebrated my 36th birthday.

Now I'm writing every morning to make This Is Life as good as it can possibly be.

I've got about 90,000 words of the draft and many of them I haven't looked at in over a year. This is the good, but also the bad. The good is there's plenty of work to do here, many mornings to fill with revision, reading, marking up printed sheets and putting in changes. Yes, I'll be revising this...
