So, we're on the Bukowksi track this week after the post below. I've been thinking about his poem featured there and now I'm offering an audio track of him reading one of his most depressing and downtrodden poems you can imagine. Trust me, he's got some WAY brighter poems. "Bluebird" especially.
And yet, this is the track that our boy DOOM (the original all caps) chose to title his latest album AND put on the attached track. CLICK HERE TO LISTEN.
And we'll continue the conversation started...

I used to have this Bukowksi poem up on the wall by my desk. Lately I've been thinking about it as I push myself back into the JP2 revisions. I'm not sure how I feel about the poem anymore, but it's always stuck with me. Either because it's bullshit bravado or because I believe in it. What do you think?

This little homie right here is D.W. Lichtenberg and, though I love the guy, I've got to say it: "I can't believe I lost to him!" But the facts is the facts and I got way out-ironied and out-wandered here at Literary Death Match on Friday night. Check out this video [click here to watch:] to see my reading.
If you want the full rundown of the night, check out Evan Karp's awesome write-up at the SF Examiner.com. You can find more videos, all the readings, opinions, thoughts, how LDM works, <a>

New Hot Tub episode, folks: The Fall, not by Camus! Listen/Download
That's right, also known as "What in the WORLD is Up," this is the episode I've been promising you for a long while: my big update on what I've been up to this fall! How sales and things are going with Jack Wakes Up, what's next for me and in the world of JACK PALMS Crime (just remember all caps...), conferences I've attended recently, Author Boot Camp, news and events. You name it!
I've been meaning to get this one out...
Why am I putting my work out as free audio content?
Basically, I'm a young author and I'm trying to build my name in the business. I've been giving my work away for three years now for people to enjoy it. This relationship and fan base has directly helped me land a publishing contract with Random House for my first novel, JACK WAKES UP, which came out in May.
Generally speaking, if folks know and like my work, I'm betting they'll spread the word and it'll lead to book sales, a career, etc...

My good friend Tom Piccirilli stopped by recently to talk about writing, Facebook, money, and his new novel, Shadow Season (available as of Tuesday past). I first found out about Tom via Facebook, where I was pleased to see he'd amassed a boatload of fans, friends, and posts. Good job, Tom. You pulled me in with your platform and then when I read The Coldest Mile, you had me! Fricking awesome book!
Though I usually do my thing with a recorder, Tom and I talked strictly by email. Here's the...
