About this author

Scott Loring Sanders was born April 20th, 1970 in Atlanta, Georgia but was raised in New Jersey. Since 1990, he has lived in various towns of the Virginia Blue Ridge Mountains, including Blacksburg, Floyd, and Christiansburg.

I wanted to give it five stars, but I couldn't. The first several stories were excellent, and plenty of other good ones, but I felt he tossed in several that were probably from early in his career that weren't up to the same level. To me, they seemed...more

Going by the star system above, all I can say is that it was okay. Didn't ever blow me away and I'm not sure where all the rave reviews and awards are coming from. My biggest problem was that right when we are reaching the culmination, when all the p...more

Not my favorite by Leonard. It never really seemed to go anywhere, and I felt like the author's heart wasn't really into this one. Somewhat of a disappointment since I generally like his work.

Wow, what a powerful writer. Holly Goddard Jones is one of those writers where I found myself saying, "Why haven't I read her before?" I'll certainly be reading more of her, that's for sure. Raw, tough stories that kept me fully engrossed.

I'm usually sketchy when it comes to books on the bestsellers lists, but I have to say, this was a fantastic read. A very impressive debut. Glad I decided to overcome my snobbery and venture forth.
