About this author

Stuart’s story ideas come from his vivid imagination, but his inspiration draws from extensive world travel and fascinating careers: from US military medic to hairstylist, then Washington D.C. Police officer to NYC photographer.

Later, he converted a chicken coop in the woods into a live-in studio and taught himself metal sculpture. That rudimentary craft expanded into the fine arts. Sculptures in bronze and fiberglass led to shows in the US, England and Thailand.

Stuart’s passion for all arts segued into: costume design (top 100 designers in the book, Fashion: 2001); modeling agency art director; fashion show designer; water feature designer, computer illustrator and a top sculptor for special effects, sets and props in the entertainment ind...more

Come on, admit it. Social Networking, a sub-set of Social Media, is a HUGE time-suck.This is probablythe biggest downside to SN (along with the fact that everything in SM is acronymed). The reason SN and SM is such a time-suck is because it's addictive, every bit as its completely unrelated non-cousins, heroin or gambling. SN, particularly, makes you feel good, so good in fact (well, not really...

I don't know this to be scientific fact, but I grew up under the assumption that the larger teeth were fossilized, millions of years old, and thus we found them further away from the shore, in the embankments and cliffs. I have my theory on how to find teeth: I use a surfboard. It's a genetic fact that sharks are attracted to surfboards (they thnk they're seals, I guess because they look so furry), so it's embedded in the genetic code of the teeth to vibrate when a surfboard is near. I just made a few alterations to a metal detector, and voila!...a shark tooth detector. Don't tell anyone.

J.L. I love hunting for shark's teeth! I have spent the last 2 summers perfecting my pseudo-scientific theories as to the best time of day, location, and what equipment to use. All I've managed to find so far is thousands of those little "tourist teeth"... every few months I release them back into the Bay, hoping the Bay deity will spit out a huge tooth for me in exchange... nothing so far, but then one day last Fall my son was out walking the dog on the beach - no where near the water's edge - and literally TRIPPED on a tooth. 2.5 inches long, almost 2 inches wide. Unbelievable
