About this author

Meet Rhea (Ray) Jensen, a pint-sized private investigator for people who like to pay into the five, six, and seven figures to get a job done. She's not down on her luck. Her car doesn't suck or blow up, but she's got her own set of problems. And not to point fingers or anything, but they seemed to show up the same day as two Mormon missionaries. Hence, the upfront disclaimer: Warning. Contains Mormons.

If you like sass and a fair share of action, the Rhea Jensen may be just what you're looking for. Six titles are planned in the series (although only five are from Rhea's point of view). Titles include:

City of Angels (released June 2010)
Welcome to Stalk Lake City (released August 2010)
City Limits (released October 2010)
Kay'sVille (released Dec...more

When writing action, it’s important that the author do one very important thing: act it out. And if you can’t do that, find someone who is an expert in what you’re trying to portray to verify that what you are scripting is plausible.
To show both good and bad examples of why it’s important to do this, I’ll use scenes from the same TV series: Castle.
A bit of background: Detective Beckett is a Ne... read more »

Maya Angelou
“The first time someone shows you who they are, believe them.”
Maya Angelou

“It is better to remain silent at the risk of being thought a fool, than to talk and remove all doubt of it.”
Maurice Switzer

Marianne Williamson
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
Marianne Williamson, Return to Love

Mark Twain
“Substitute 'damn' every time you're inclined to write 'very;' your editor will delete it and the writing will be just as it should be.”
Mark Twain

Mission accomplished!

Woohoo!! It is always a good day when I help lead someone to the Buffster. Personally, I can never get enough of the musical episode "Once More, With Feeling." One of the best hours of television in history if you ask me. The pilot is okay as well though... I guess. :-)

Sheralyn It's okay. You don't have to worry about putting stuff out there to read. No one's read the chapter I posted. I think they largely go out into limbo unless you force people to read and comment, so we can post away ;)

message 1: by Becca

Becca But that means putting stuff out there for everyone to see! That's a little scary. But you're right. We should make it a requirement for our group to post. Maybe part of what we do when we're all together sharing our stuff is to encourage each other to post the things we liked best about their writing that month.
