I have always loved books. I can’t remember a time when I didn’t. I learned to read at the age of 4, romped my way through Janet and John and discovered Enid Blyton thanks to Noddy... read more »

Topics Mentioning This Author

“Never argue with an idiot, for he is doing the same.

― Les Barker

“Learning is not compulsory... neither is survival.”
W. Edwards Deming

“You never know the truth until you have heard all the stories. As you never hear all the stories, you never know the whole truth.”
― Lord High Magician Turloch

“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”
Arthur C. Clarke, Profiles of the Future: An Inquiry Into the Limits of the Possible

“A lot of the people who read a bestselling novel, for example, do not read much other fiction. By contrast, the audience for an obscure novel is largely composed of people who read a lot. That means the least popular books are judged by people who have the highest standards, while the most popular are judged by people who literally do not know any better. An American who read just one book this year was disproportionately likely to have read ‘The Lost Symbol’, by Dan Brown. He almost certainly liked it.”
