I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was twelve but then I forgot and did a lot of other things instead. These included getting an arts degree in English and Political Studies at Auckland University (New Zealand), a postgraduate degree in periodical journalism at the University of London, travelling, having my heart broken a couple of times, meeting the right guy, building a house, having a baby - the usual milestones.
Writing romance was a fantasy I started taking seriously when I turned forty, but then I was always a late developer. But I always loved the way romances took me on an emotional journey and I think that’s the strength of this genre over any other, the way romance makes readers feel. And I certainly went through the whole range

I'm working on the next book in the Rock Solid series, Resurrection (Moss and Stormy's story) which should release on August 31.
So far we have: Rise, Fall (Dimity and Seth's story), and Play (Jared and Kayla's story, a novella). It's currently in the anthology, You Had Me At Christmas, with Molly O'Keefe, Stephanie Doyle, Laura Florand and Jennifer Lohmann. You can buy You Had Me At Christmas as an ebook on Amazon. Late February, I'll release it as a standalone through all retailers.
In the imagination pipeline is another book for Zander and Elizabeth and a novella for Zander's bodyguard, Luther.(less)

With one exception, none of my characters are based on real people (more on the exception later!)
I discover my characters as I write the first draft and then go back and revise them so they're consistently 'themselves.' By that stage they are as real to me as my family. Zander first appeared as a villain in What The LIbrarian Did and at the time I had no intention of turning him into a hero. I remember the first email I got from a reader asking when I'd write his story and thinking, "Are you crazy He's horrible." But then other readers asked, and I began wondering WHY he'd done such terrible things, and whether he could redeem himself. And now he's one of my favourite heroes.
* The only character I based on a real person is a small girl called Cassie in Stand-In Wife. She's my niece and everything I wrote about her is true.
Ironically and wonderfully, Cassie is the only one of my characters ever called 'unrealistic' in a review. Which proves that truth IS always stranger than fiction. Thanks for your question!(less)
