April 26, 2012

several random life lessons summed up in Yoan’s style:

Thinking of being lucky is serious stuff to attract luck
Linkedin is serious stuff for these who want to boost their career, organizing CV and your past projects are very important
Small publishers are highly unreliable, especially if they are into niche market
Quality time with friends is hard to find
Getting connected with people who interviewed you before is a good idea
Inform your best friend to seize your laptop/ ext. harddisk and format t...

The following are the statistics of Foreign Direct Investment in Indonesia, published in Kompas, 24/04/2012 page 19. I republished it to my blog to ensure I preserve the data since I can’t find this anywhere else and might be useful in the future for my academic work. I remember seeing this data from bank indonesia publication, however their website is like labyrinth and I’m not sure whether I could locate it again.

The BKPM website has not been updated for a year (the publication and statisti...

Be prepared to lose your breath. The Raid is a martial movie directed by Gareth Huw Evans starred by Iko Uwais. The movie has received several awards prior to its premiere airing at Indonesia.

The movie is about a SWAT team (Densus 88?) that raided an apartment of mafia boss, kind of the kingpin who deals with all the illegal activities in the town. Things went wrong very quickly, the apartment full of surveillance camera, the thugs come equipped with machine guns. The team was overwhelmed...

Sri Mulyani Indrawati is probably one of the most powerful woman in the world and the most respected woman from Indonesia. Since Robert Zoellick will retire in upcoming months, many speculate who will be appointed as his successor because there is unwritten rule that World Bank's president must be american and not necessarily educated from finance/economic sector.

It's as bad as IMF's tradition of appointing French/European as the managing director. I was shocked to find that Lagarde was not a...

I had a dream last night. It was night, I was alone walking in a city that I wasn't familiar with. I didn't even remember how I was there at first place (the dream was longer from what I could recall). I felt fatigue, fortunately there was a car picking me up and I was awkwardly riding the car, while gripping my hand tight on the back side of car.

For some reason I found myself walked on the road again, but this time I felt sudden chill. I was feeling cold. Suddenly I found house by the end...

Oh joy! Finally my piano arrived. Last year my auntie actually gave her battered old piano, however my father demanded that it must be repaired before taken into our house. After 7 months of waiting finally I could hone my piano skill again.

This piano apparently manufactured by Richard Lipp & Sohn (never heard them before), partially made with timber and champaca. I have practiced about 3 hours in this rainy sunday now I'm having fingers cramp.

At the moment I'm trying to refresh my muscle...

I had an unusual dream last night. I was in a room where there were bunch of people from southeast asians origins, having some sort of conference. The topic was vague, but I think it's about idea of making rice cartel organization so they could control price of rice. There were some fuss about chairman appointment, because the indonesian ones outnumbered the other southeast asians, they had the biggest voters and appointed as chairman.

Now, this is probably because I read the related article i...

That three words sound nonsensical. Actually they are. Last night I dreamed that I was in a class (sigh) taught by the infamous headmaster of my school.

The dream was cut abruptly, I was dreaming another scene. This time I was sitting on the table, listening an aria that aired on tv, which sounded like Bach's. However there were subtitles running on the screen, there were three words highlighted "es hr liezt" I don't know what these mean.
