I'm not a very good Goodreads Author - I keep trying to stay up to date on the various sites where I have a presence, but it's time-consuming and I need to (really, really need to, will go mad shortly if I do not) finish the new book. So I occasionally post nonsense on my own site - nickharkaway.com - and I'm sometimes to be found on Twitter.

Please feel free to drop by and tell me to do some darned work...

A word regarding reviews - or rather, why I don't really review anyone else's work; it's basically for two reasons. The first is that I don't want to upset anyone. I know or am in touch with a lot of the people whose work I read, and I would like to know a lot of the others. I'm not about to start being persnickety about their work. So I generally only put books up on Goodreads which I've enjoyed. I was refusing to star-rate them too, but someone pointed out that just meant they got a zero score which dragged the average down. On which basis I rate them all five stars, because if they weren't superb and/or useful I wouldn't have mentioned them at all.

The second reason is that I find reading a book with an eye to reviewing changes the experience, which makes things less fun and also invalidates anything I have to say. So I don't do it. Any comments I make are post-facto, as it were - things I found myself wanting to say after reading the book.

So please do drop me a line or whatever, and forgive me if I'm slow to respond...
