“Look, Aerin, preparation is only half the challenge of winning a debate.”
“And the other half?”
He had her now. “You have to choose the right side.”
“Your side, you mean.” She bristled.
“No, the losing side.”
“What?”
“Always choose the weaker side.”
“Why would I do that?” Doubt edged her voice, but now she was sitting erect, her feet flat on the floor.
“Because then you have further to go to prove your case.” He eased the feet of his chair down. “In a debate, there are two sides. If both make a good argument, then the less popular side wins because that side had further to go to prove its point. Simple logistics.”
“If you don’t care which side wins.” She frowned.
“It’s a debate. It doesn’t matter which side wins.”
“You mean it doesn’t matter to you.” The tone in her voice unsettled him. Or maybe it was the fact that that her criticism disturbed him at all.
“It’s a class,” he said. “The point is to flesh out the different sides of an argument.”
“And you don’t care if the truth gets lost in the shuffle. Don’t you believe in anything?!”

Just finished Academy 7 (only took me a couple of hours because I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN!) and I'm dying to know if there's going to be a follow-up. Please say yes! And would it help to know that a sequel is the only thing I'm asking for from Cupid this year? :P
Hi Anne Osterlund! Thanks for adding me to your friend list! I loved Aurelia! I really want to read Exile! They don't have it yet at the Madison Public Library. :( I check everyday for them to get it. I really hope they get the book soon! :) Thanks again for adding me to your friend list!,
Bitterblue
Hi Anne!Thank you for the friend request. I found your books really intruiging. I'm looking forward to read one soon, especially Aurelia..
Cheers :)
Hola Marialys,No te preocupes de los errores. Es un placer de encontrarte. Espero que eventualmente podemos tener versiones de los libros en espanol tambien.

Marialys Scarano Hi, thanks for the friend request.I really want to read your books, but I'm from Venezuela and it's kind of 'the hardest thing in the whole Universe' to get any book; not even in english, cuz there aren't deliverys to here. I'm writing Santa's letter to finally get Academy 7 o Aurelia.
Love the bookcovers and the summary.
Sorry for bad-spelled words, and all kind of mistakes :)
Grettings from Venezuela.
Hi Anne! Thank you for the friend request. I loved Aurelia and Academy 7! Looking forward to reading Exile! I noticed in your profile that you are "polishing" another book as well - I can't wait :)
Hi Anne,Thanks for noticing my interest in Aurelia and adding me! I'm looking forward to reading it soon, especially after a good friend of mine recommended it to me.
Greetings and happy writings!
Hi Anne! Thanks for inviting me. I really enjoyed Aurelia, so now I'm looking for Exile. I already have Academy 7 and will definitely read it soon. :) Have a nice day!
Hey Anne! thanks for the friend invite *-* I loved Academy 7 and I can't wait to read Aurelia and Exile =)
Hi Anne! Thanks for the friend request. I loved Aurelia and Exile (THEY WERE AWESOME) and I cant wait to read Academy 7. :D
Hi Anne! Thanks for the friend invite. Look forward to reading your books. It's always exciting to watch authors from Oregon find success.Much luck and happy reading!
Thanks for the request! I just finished Aurelia a few days ago and completely fell in love with the characters. It's one of my favorites, as well as Academy 7. You're brilliant really. I can't wait to read Exile! :)
I look forward to reading your stories! :)Thats awesome we have 61 books in common, its always nice to know someone else enjoyed a story
Hi Ashlee,Aurelia, Robert, and I hope you enjoy their stories!

Hi Spleen,Aurelia, Robert, and I hope you enjoy their first story! And I LOVE to send book recommendations so I hope at least some of them are helpful.

Hi Nicole,Aerin, Dane, Aurelia, Robert, and I hope you enjoy their stories! I didn't know if I would like Leaving Paradise either. Generally am not a big fan of realistic fiction with "suffering" in it. But Simone's Perfect Chemistry series was such fun, I knew I needed to try this one. And I LOVED this first book.

Hi Casey,Yep. "Adding" works. Or "inviting." And that is about the extent of my online book networking expertise:)
My characters--Aurelia, Robert, Aerin, Dane--and I hope you enjoy their stories!
And yes! Aren't the covers GORGEOUS? Michael Frost and Theresa Evangelista are amazing!
Anne
(who is TRULY blessed in the realm of book covers)

Hi Jess,You're welcome. Robert, Aurelia, and I hope you enjoy their stories!
Anne
(whose new kitty, Charlotte (gray and peach), has taken over both her house and her parents' house--despite the fact that the latter was already the gray and white kitty's territory)
Jessica wrote: "Thanks for the add! I very much look forward to reading your book! Jess"
Hi Teresa,Aerin, Dane, and I are thrilled you enjoyed their story! And Aurelia and Robert hope you enjoy theirs as well. It's funny what a big difference expectations make on how much you can enjoy a book. I spent one summer going through a BOX of books (maybe 30) I had failed to read over the school year. The last book--the VERY last one--The Sword of the Land by Noel-Anne Brennan turned out to be the best one. So much for assumptions! LOL.
Anne

Teresa wrote: "So, because you found me on goodreads I read Academy 7 and really liked it. Totally not what I expected but was much more my kind of book because of it.

Hi Ashley,Aurelia, Robert, and I are thrilled you liked their first story! We hope you enjoy the expedition in Exile.

Ashley wrote: "Anne, Thanks for adding me as a friend! I loved Aureila, and look forward to reading Exile!"
Hi Ari,Yay! Aurelia, Robert, and I hope you enjoy their expedition. It was QUITE a challenge!

(who is ALMOST caught up on answering all her late Goodreads messages)
Ari wrote: "Hello Anne! Thank you so much for adding me!

Hi Angie,Aurelia, Robert, and I hope you enjoy their stories!
Anne

Angie wrote: "Thank you so much for the friend request! I am looking forward to reading both of your books and seeing what other books you can recommend!"
Hi Diana,Aurelia, Robert, and I hope you enjoy their first story!

Hi Brittany,"Awesome" is a great descriptor. Generally my ability to keep up to date on Goodreads adds is due to the fact that I can do so without any brain power whatsoever. A very important requirement after 8 1/2 hours with 27 sixth grade students.
Anne
(who is LOVING her summer)
Brittany wrote: "Thanks for the friend invite. That was a pretty quick turn around since I only put that on my to-read list in the last couple of days. That's very awesome of you to keep up with those things. I ..."
Hi Wendy,Oh, I can chat books FOREVER. Hence all my Goodreads comments/reviews despite the fact that my house can always use a TAD more cleaning.

Hi Taznim,I would LOVE to write a third book! (Actually the first draft is already done). Aurelia feels it is absolutely vital that I finish her story, so it's possible I may have no choice in the matter anyway.
You're welcome for all the book recs. I LOVE recommending books--as you've probably figured out. LOL.
Anne
(who actually just finished her new favorite read of the year--Leaving Paradise by Simone Elkeles)
Taznim wrote: "hi ANNE,

Hi Lee,Aurelia, Robert, Aerin, Dane, and I hope you enjoy their stories!

Hi Gemma,You're welcome. Dane, Aerin, and I hope you enjoy their story!

(who is currently reading a biography--gasp!--which only happens about once every 3-5 years)
Gemma wrote: "Hi Anne, thank you for your friendship. Looking forward to reading Academy 7! :)"
Hi Stacey,Dane, Aerin, and I are thrilled you enjoyed their story! And Robert and Aurelia hope you enjoy theirs as well.

Hi Megan,Yay! Aurelia and Robert are thrilled you enjoyed their first story! They hope you enjoy their expedition in Exile as well. And Aerin, Dane, and I hope you enjoy Academy 7.
Anne
(who is watering her long and hoping she won't forget to turn off the faucet before she falls asleep--a lapse in memory which has been known to happen)
Megan wrote: "heey! thanks for the friend request, so far I love the book Aurelia and I can't wait to read your other books! :)"
Hi Michelle,Aurelia, Robert, and I hope you enjoy their stories!
Anne
(who is running out of tags to put on her profile messages because she has once again waited TOO long to answer them--sigh)
Michelle wrote: "Thanks for the add. Look forward to getting to your books"
Hi Jenna,Aurelia, Robert, and I are thrilled you liked their first story! We hope you enjoy the expedition in Exile. It was QUITE a challenge!
Anne
(who is contemplating whether to read more about Nellie Oleson or rewatch her Season 2 Finale from American Dreams instead)
Jenna wrote: "Thanks for the add! I thought Aurelia was a beautiful book, and look forward to reading Exile. Best wishes! :)"
Hi Brianna,I would LOVE to write a sequel!
Anne
(who actually read Academy 7 to her sixth graders this year and lived to tell the tale--not at all guaranteed)
Brianna wrote: "Hi, Thanks for the add. I loved Academy 7. I was wondering if you were ever going to write a sequel because i loved it."
Hi Amber,Aerin, Dane, and I hope you enjoy their story.

Thanks for the friend request! Yeah I did just put Aurelia on my TBR list. It looks great :) I will be picking it up soon! I have heard good things about it!"
Hi Greta,Yay! Robert, Aurelia, and I hope you enjoy their second story. And please pass along our gratitude to your librarian for stocking it!
