A prolific British children's writer who has penned an estimated 800 books over about 40 years. Her stories were often children's adventure stories and fantasy involving magic, such as the Famous Five series, the Noddy series, the Wishing Chair series and several boarding school series.

According to the Index Translationum, Blyton was the fifth most popular author in the world in 2007, coming after Lenin but ahead of Shakespeare.
