S.J. Day's Blog

The chemistry between Eve and Cain is strong, and they make a hell of a team, and the addition of Abel to the mix does help stir things up nicely. The sex scenes are sizzling hot and quite erotic, charged with passion, danger, and a hint of forbidden fantasy. The author gets major points for making the protagonist of Japanese descent, while the brothers are quite properly of a non-specific, non-Caucasian origin.

Kevin J. Anderson ( Enemies & Allies, SDCCI GOH); Brom (The Child Thief); Richard Kadrey (Sandman Slim); Vicki Pettersson (City Of Souls); S.J. Day (Eve Of Chaos) and Holly Black (White Cat) debate the new face of fantasy.

Action, humor, mystery, very sexy alpha males, a hot phone sex scene - yeah, this book is all kinds of awesome.

Another fantastic page turning story. Ms Day has once again turned up the heat and added a bit more spice to catch and keep our little mental taste buds tingling. The love triangle of Eve-Cain-Abel gets a few more twists which only makes the story better.

I really like the enmity between Cain and Able and the way Eve complicates it all. Eve is an interesting protagonist, super charged because of the changes the Mark puts her through, but seeming to know her limitations. She's smart and strong willed and hasn't been moping around for 10 years since Cain broke her heart.

The story is both fast paced and full of action and keeps you flipping those pages just so you can see what happens next. About half-way through the book there is a great plot twist which changes the Eve-Cain-Abel triangle in so many different ways that adds an extra layer depth and complication to their relationship. Ms. Day has certainly spiced up the age old tale of Cain and Abel to make it red hot and has added many more spices to keeps us all drooling and begging for more.

I just inhaled the first three installments of the Marked series. It's a fantastically imagined wonderful world, based on the battle between Heavenly good and Hell's evil. What makes the series so fun is Evangeline Hollis, the heroine who is smart and kick ass, and totally torn between the two brothers, who are fighting their own private battle.

I am still trying to figure out how author S J Day has been able to write a series based on Judeo-Christian stories from the bible and religious figures such as Jehovah (God), Cain, Able, archangels, seraphims, and other beings, and not really turn this story into a religious one. I have read inspirational stories and they are not my cup of tea, yet this Marked series has me glued to the pages!
