about this author
Liza Monroy, the daughter of a U.S. Foreign Service officer, spent her high school years attending an international school in Mexico City. Her articles and essays have appeared in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times Magazine, Newsweek, The Village Voice, Time Out New York, Jane, and other publications, and she was recently awarded a residency by the Kerouac Project of Orlando. She lives in New York City.
“Liza Monroy has a magical voice, the kind that makes you want to read the next sentence and then the one after that to see what turn her writing will take next. She is observant, funny, and curiously wise about the culture we live and flounder in.”

What's good with the Chronic City?? :) I just wanted to let you know that I have a book trailer on youtube, if you would like to check it out. It's for my urban fiction novella(and it's FREE!!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bg0AKYC9L...
Thanks for adding me to your friends list Liza! I do hope you will consider reading my debut novel Paper Boats available on amazon.com. I would love to have your views on it!
I just finished your book and I truly enjoyed it. I moved around a lot in my youth (military brat), I lived in a few different countries and know what its like to want to “fit in” while still wanting to stand out. A few parts in the book sparked memories I hadn’t thought about in years, like government temporary housing complete with grey Flintstone inspired furniture. I wish I could have had Mexican High to read when I moved to a different country in my junior year of high school. Thanks.
