Melanie Gideon grew up in Rhode Island and has a degree in journalism from Emerson college. She now lives in Oakland, California with her husband and son. She is a member of the Writers' Grotto, a writer's collective in San Francisco. She is currently working on a novel, The End, and a memoir, As I Lay Living.
