About this author

I am a clinical psychologist with a passion for reading and writing. My writing has included blogging (for Psychology Today and The Huffington Post), essays in The Psychology of Twilight and The Psychology of Dexter, and three books, all dealing with how to help people who are medically ill. When Someone You Love Has a Chronic Illness is my first self-help book and aims to help the loved ones of patients, such as partners, other family members, and friends.

I have a private practice in San Francisco, where I also live with my husband and two dogs.

Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri
Obviously a tremendously gifted writer, this book was good, but I liked the Namesake better, (forget that it was a movie) That being said, the story that sticks with me most is A Temporary Matter, brilliant, poignant and sad. Overall a great classic...more
Run by Ann Patchett
This is a lovely story about family, race and class in an East Coast city (Boston). Patchett is a gifted writer, whose use of prose is thoughtful and not pretentious. One of the best books I have read in the last year.

"I read the essay in the NY Times before it was a book, I think it is better than his first and a bit more approachable. "
