She started to have interest in writing in her fifth or sixth grade of elementary school. Her first novel entitled Spring in Autumn was published by LPPH in 2006. Her short story Lebih dari Tiga Hari won Festival Kreasi Muslimah 2007, and the other one, entitled Hiasan yang Dikenakan Prue, was published in Deteksi Jawa Pos. Her other novels were Will & Juliette (LPPH) and The Fairy Tale House (Sygma Examedia). In 2011 GagasMedia published her fourth novel Éclair: Pagi Terakhir di Rusia, which became the nominee in Anugerah Pembaca Indonesia 2011. She collaborated with Sefryana Khairil in Beautiful Mistake (2012). First line-nya saja sudah berhasil menghipnotis saya, dan setiap kali ada jeda, saya selalu menyempatkan untuk membacanya (saat perjalanan pulang, di ruang tunggu dokter, sebelum film dimulai di bioskop, sebelum tidur, dsb). Saya menyelesaikan novel ini dalam waktu kira-kira seminggu, berusaha fokus pada setiap kata dan kalimatnya, karena sayang sekali bila ada satu saja yang terlewat.

Ok...mulai dari manakah? Feel, feel, feel, penguasaan materi, karakter, pilihan kata, kemampuan untuk membuat pembaca berempati...bagi saya elemen-elemen inilah yang paling penting dalam sebuah novel, dan dalam Memori, semuanya ditulis Windry dengan indah. Berkali-kali saya dibuat tercengang dan membatin, "Keren...keren..." Kecanggungan, ketertarikan, cinta, persaudaraan, digambarkan dengan porsi yang tepat, tanpa berlebih. Ibarat makanan atau minuman yang diracik dengan pas (ok, saya selalu membandingkan apapun dengan makanan... xD)

What else? Karakternya sangat kuat; Mahoni yang tough tapi rapuh pada saat bersamaan, Simon yang bikin saya fall in love, Sofia yang cantik, Sigi yang manis...well, overall, sangat realistis. Lalu metafora-metafora yang tak banyak ditemukan di karya lain, yang mampu membuat panca indera saya bereaksi... Every description of architecture, homes, woods, chocolate (ok...food again xD), imaginary rabbit... Every single detail in this book makes me too... *speechless*

Planting dan harvestingnya pun sangat rapi, setiap bab membahas hal-hal sederhana yang terkait dengan para tokoh, untuk kemudian disimpulkan di klimaksnya. Well, to put it simple, Windry berhasil menjabarkan setiap potongan puzzle cerita, dan menyatukannya dengan cara yang, sekali lagi, sangat alami. Saya sempat takut menemukan 'kelengahan' atau plot holes, tapi ternyata tidak saya temukan, which is very relieving :D

Yah, pokoknya suka banget sama novel yang satu ini...! Thanks Mba Windry, a lovely treasure I've found (finally!) in the bookstore :D
