I wonder how often tv shows use the same actor/actress in completely different roles. I'm not talking about plot related issues such as twins, relatives or doppelgangers (e.g., Sheryl Lee as both Laura Palmer and Maddy Ferguson on Twin Peaks) or roles which put the actor in such heavy makeup/prosthetics as to be completely unrecognizable (e.g., Wayne Alexander played at least four different ali... My Personal Kubla Kahn (Poetry)
1 chapters   —   updated Mar 29, 2010 04:33pm
Description: I've always really liked the following, despite the fact that it was never finished. I began writing it on the evening of November 1, 1992. At some point, I collapsed in exhaustion. The next day I tried to go back to it but could never recapture the spark that had inspired the completed part. Despite that it always felt like there was something good here...

This Is Not The Michael You're Looking For's Recent Updates

A Storm of Swords by George R.R. Martin
A Storm of Swords is as strong on the second read as the first. It's a brutal story, with rampant betrayal at all levels, containing what is likely the most famous scene of the series. An interesting aspect on the reread is the bits of foreshadowing...more
A Song of Ice and Fire, 5 Book Set Series: A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, A Feast for Crows, A Dance with Dragons
Magician's End by Raymond E. Feist
A fitting end to the long running saga, Magician's End reasonably satisfies, although much of the story could be fairly well predicted. While not perfect, and with perhaps a little too much deus ex machina for my taste, it still works as a solid wrap...more
The Band of Gold by Maurissa Guibord

Where Late the Sweet Birds Sang by Kate Wilhelm
Written in the late 70's, Where Late the Sweet Birds Sang starts with the impending collapse of civilization due to climate change, war, and disease (you know, pretty much all the things going on right now), and one large family's attempt to ride out...more
A Clash of Kings by George R.R. Martin
Finished my reread of the second book of the series. Like the first, I feel like I was less confused about who the characters were and what was going on than the first time around, perhaps in part due to the clarifying nature of the HBO series puttin...more
Lonely Planet by China Williams
As with any other book which covers such a large area, much of the coverage of any given area is sparse, but unlike many other travel guides it covers many areas which are otherwise completely ignored. A big bulky for convenient travel (again because...more
The Great Frustration by Seth Fried
The Great Frustration
by Seth Fried (Goodreads Author)
read in May, 2013
A lovely story about the animals in the Garden of Eden, at peace with each other, but not with themselves, wondering what the strange urges they get when considering each other might portent.
The Mongoliad by Neal Stephenson
