Have you been attacked by a great white shark? Gone over Niagara Falls in a barrel? Been exposed to anthrax? No, you haven't, or you'd be dead. This Will Kill You reveals the intriguing facts behind the many ways humans bite the dust in encounters with deadly bugs, hungry predators, natural disasters, and freak occurrences. Thoroughly researched and illustrated, not to mention thoroughly hilarious, this book describes in deathly detail what happens to the body when it’s struck by lightning, slimed by a dart frog, or flung from a mountaintop.

No other book has ever peaked under the Grim Reaper's robe in such a straightforward and irreverent way. With a foreword by a physician at the Mayo Clinic , an afterword by a funeral director, lists of history’s most notable deaths, and a unique death rating system, everything you need to know about the ways in which we go are included in these pages.

    <div>Understanding the brain is one of the biggest challenges facing scientists. We still don't know how the brain creates thoughts! Newquist peels back the layers of the brain to explain what it's made of, how it works, and how to make your brain work for you. From eyeballs to neurons, vivid illustrations show pieces of its complex structure. The historical chapter details how Egyptians scooped out the brains of mummies, and how phrenology developed. Brain surgery and brain abnormalities are explained, as is the function of sleep and dreams. An informal and intriguing look inside your head.
</div>

    Web directories come in handy when you want to discover new Web resources without actively searching for a particular keyword on a search engine or subject tree. Yahoo! The Ultimate Desk Reference to the Web applies editorial judgment to the billions of Web sites out there, yielding a nicely annotated list that spans dozens of subject areas. Health, government, sports, news--it's all here. One really nice feature: the book lies flat at almost any page, enabling you to station the volume at your side as you use both hands on your keyboard. Having said that, you would expect a directory published under the Yahoo! brand to have a supporting Web site that would obviate the need to do manual URL entry. No such luck.
  At certain points, it's evident that the contents of a Web site just don't translate well onto paper: "Sound Effects has, of course, numerous belches, as well as the requisite boings, bells, and bangs." Right. But, anyway, this book is worthwhile reading for days of idle surfing. It'll make your everyday Web experience certainly more enjoyable. --David Wall
  Topics covered: A directory of Web sites, organized by subject area and then alphabetically. Subject areas include art, computers, entertainment, news, science, shopping, and sports.

Investors are anxiously considering what sector will provide the next leap forward. Lou Dobbs, the best-known personality in American broadcast financial journalism, founder of CNNfn, CNNfn.com, and CNN's Lou Dobbs Moneyline, believes that question can be answered in five letters: SPACE.
In Space: The Next Business Frontier, Dobbs and co-author HP Newquist explore where the money has gone, is going, and will go in space development by the private sector. Here they examine which new technologies have the edge, which corporations are players in the space game and which are destined to be, what start-up companies have to do to become players, and how to judge for yourself which ones will have the best chances for success.
Space: The Next Business Frontier is a crucial examination of an industry with unlimited opportunity.
