I didn't sleep well last night. In fact, it was 3 am and I was still laying there in the dark, trying to make sense of what's happened to our small community.

I wasn't at the mall.

My kids (thank God) weren't at the mall.

But some of my friends were. I know people that ran from the building, confuse... Read more of this blog post »

Loosely inspired by La Sorcière, Jules Michelet’s 1862 history of witchcraft and the occult, BELLADONNA OF SADNESS tells the story of a young woman who makes a pact with the devil to exact revenge after being raped and driven from her home. This brief synopsis, however, does no justice to the vis...

Karen Chance Karen Chance's blog:

So, the entries are in for the cover art contest, and they are wonderful! A huge thank you to everyone who took the time and aggravation (and believe me, I know how aggravating this stuff can be) to help me. I really appreciate it.

Now, on to the entries!

Nina Harper sent in this great entry with a beautifully lit up Eiffel Tower and a very intense looking Louis Cesare. I loved it, and thought the composition was really well done.
Ashley sent in this awesome dark Dory with a great goth-y feel. Loved the model, and the great thing about Dory is, she isn't choosy about weapons. She doesn't have a signature -- if it'll kill something, she's down. So a sword works as well as anything else. Great work!
Camilla Lier Hagen did a great composition cover (I still don't know how to do these yet!) with a brilliant background. Wonderful work, and the expression on Dory is great -- it captures her personality while on a hunt so well. Thank you so much, Camilla!
Elaine Murphy sent in one of my favorites. Great colors, great composition, fun, bad-ass Dory -- what's not to love?
Rio, the talented designer who did the t-shirt graphics on the freebies page, also did a cover -- and was brave enough to take on Louis-Cesare! This is not an easy task, let me tell you. I have personally looked at what has to be -- no exaggeration -- thousands of stock photos, and he is not an easy man to find! He and Dory look like they are about to start some trouble, don't they? Awesome work, Rio!
Melanie Reed did a great cover with I.M. Pei's stunning pyramid in the background. Loved the brilliant color contrasted with the dark figure of Dory. It really makes her pop, which is one of the main things you want from a cover. Very cool work!
Lea Bourgeois sent in several entries, and this was probably my favorite. The background was awesome -- interesting but not overwhelming, and with a great view out over Paris. Love it!
Nina Harper was another of the brave people who took on both Dory and LC. Very John Le Carre, very super spy, very cool. Thank you, Nina!
Lea Bourgeois' second entry was a view of Paris's beautiful nightly illumination. Dory and night go together like rum and coke, so yeah, I think it works. Thanks, Lea!

I think we can all agree that I ha...
